The domestic livestock industry exceeded $66 billion last year, according to information from American Pet Products Assn., and a large part of the market share is due to the emergence of new technology for pet owners and parents. “What began as simple toys, as collars with LED lights has now evolved into GPS collars and monitoring devices for the health status and activity of domestic animals,” Tierra Bonaldi, APPA spokesperson.
“ We see more and more products companies for human beings dedicated to pet products, because they realized that pet owners do not look at expenses with regard to the comfort and pampering they want to give to their estates.”
Petcube’s director, a company that produces interactive cameras for dogs, believes that within five years, half of the U.S. pets will be connected to their pet owners, via the Internet, via cameras, smart collars or other wearable technology.
“ People like their stepfathers, as they like their children,” said Yaroslav Azhnyuk. “Our research shows that people want to be linked to their stepfathers, because they like them unconditionally.”
Azhyuk believes that the company pet technology market will grow in three major categories: chambers, locators and automatic food dispensers.
