Accidents happen. If you have a big daddy, the day will come when you’ll have to clean some urine off the floor of your house. Whether you’re training a new puppy or taking care of an old daddy, accidents are a fact of life when you have a dog. The real problem occurs when pet owners do not clean the site properly.
When a dog pees on a carpet, the urine stuffs the carpet and passes to the bottom. For this reason the size of the stain you can see on the carpet is much larger in its lower part, which is not in sight. If the urine is not properly cleaned, your body will smell it and the “accidents” will continue to occur in exactly the same place. In addition, the smell of urine will start to feel in the area of the house where it occurs. And nobody likes to smell urine!
How to clean effectively?
1) Absorb urine
Place paper towels, or any other absorbent material, on the urine to absorb as much as possible. Pressing the place where the urine is, when it is on a carpet, will cause more liquid to be absorbed by the towel or absorbent paper placed there.
2) Dilute
Pour water on the affected area and, using more absorbing paper, repeat the previous process. Repeat the process until the liquid on the towels is no longer yellowed.

3) Use a (good) cleaning product
Choose in your pantry a good cleaning product, suitable for the surface you want to clean. Follow the instructions that accompany the product. You should normally let the product work for a while. We recommend the use of a product that is specifically intended to clean up the naughtyness of the big boys. These products are usually designed specifically to eliminate stains and smell of urine from the paws.
If you do not want to buy a specific product for this purpose, you can also make your own natural cleaning product at home. Then there is a simple recipe you can use:
- Mix a part of hydrogen peroxide, aka oxygenated water, with two parts of water. Pour the mixture over the site and let it work for five to ten minutes before completely cleaning the area with absorbent paper.
- Then thoroughly soak the area reached with undiluted white vinegar. Allow to act for a few minutes before absorbing and cleaning everything until it is dry.
Note: This natural solution also works to clean the area where defecation accidents occur.
4) Spread Sodium Bicarbonate
To get rid of any remaining odor, cover the affected area with sodium bicarbonate. Sodium bicarbonate is an odor absorbent. Let the sodium bicarbonate work for a few hours. Then aspire to the scene.
Clear old spots
Of course, the ideal is to clean the place immediately after the “accident” of your stepfather. However, this is not always possible. In such cases, to remove older spots, do the following:
Follow the instructions given above. However, as the stains have been on site for some time, you may have to repeat the process several times until you can remove the stain and odor.
It is also recommended to use a good vacuum cleaner and a good carpet cleaning product, specifically designed to clean “accidents” of the boobs.
